Several days ago, this alleged fallen angel just broke the internet. A lot of people got intrigued as to the truth about this so-called angel that is said to have fallen from the sky in London. Will this prove stories about the existence of angels?
Just by looking at the picture, one can say that it looks really realistic. It may be a proof about angels’ existence but, sad to say, this is not true. This is just an artwork.
This life-size artwork is made by renowned conceptual artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. ‘Angel’ is just one of the realistic sculptures that the duo has created. As you see in the photo, it is an old woman with featherless wings. It lays flat on the ground making it appear as if it has fallen directly from the sky. Somehow, you won’t even know if this ‘Angel’ is sleeping or dead.
One would really be astonished as to how it was created to become very realistic. Sun Yuan and Peng Yu are among the most controversial artists for their work. They have become more controversial because of the materials in their previous artworks. The duo uses REAL human body fat and even baby cadavers. With ‘Angel’, they have used silica gel, fibre-reinforced polymer, and more.
If you want to have a glance at the artwork, ‘Angel’ is currently displayed at the Saatchi gallery in London. You can also check out some of the sculptures created by the duo by visiting the artists’ profile in the website of Saatchi gallery:
