Cassidy Stay is the 15-year old survivor of a massacre in Texas on July 9 this year. She said she acted as a dead person during the massacre. She witnessed the death of her mother Katie, 34, father Stephen, 39, brothers: Bryan, 14, and Zach, 4, and sisters: Emily, 9, and Rebecca, 7.

She has endeared herself to millions when she quoted Albus Dumbledore during the memorial service of her family members.

She quoted, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” She got this from The Prisoner of Azkaban, the third book of the series.

This part of her speech during the funeral became viral in the internet. There was even a Facebook page for the campaign for Cassidy and JK Rowling to meet in person.

JK Rowling did not meet Cassidy in person. Instead, she sent a package to Cassidy, including a letter in purple ink in the literary style of Dumbledore.

The Facebook page comment also cited that the package included a wand and a signed copy of the The Prisoner of Azkaban. And she also received an acceptance letter from Hogwarts.

JK Rowling’s spokeperson confirmed in The Telegraph that she “was in touch with Cassidy Stay”. But the spokeperson did not reveal the contents of what JK Rowling sent to Cassidy Stay.
